Soon after the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, Trent University’s Office of Research and Innovation announced a special call for research related to the pandemic. The Trent Centre for Aging & Society is pleased to announce that seven of our members are involved in the funded research projects related. This TCAS video series highlights three of those projects, as they relate to culture and gender, older volunteers and social isolation in an era of global pandemic.

This video highlights the project “Imagine Aging”, conducted by Sally Chivers (Professor, Department of English and Gender & Women’s Studies) and Kate Simola (Research Assistant), along with Tamara Daly (Professor, York University) and Julia Brassolotto (Assistant Professor, University of Lethbridge). This research builds on a larger project that seeks to extend the reach of age-friendly policies to be more equitable and to be able to reach populations that are not considered by the official frameworks. Conducting research in six countries, the project will compare services for older adults in those different countries and develop promising practices for equitable and just aging for all, including through the use of digital storytelling. The Trent research focuses on how to make digital cues – short videos that invite a broader conversation – in COVID-times.
